This website is created to commemorate 2600th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthiya on 17th May 2011. This day is the Vesak (month of May) Poya Day (Full Moon Day). The Lord Buddha had attained nibbana 2600 years ago on a Vesak Poya Day. It is a known fact that the Lord Buddha was born, attained nibbana and passed away on the day of Vesak.

Objective: The main objective of this web site is to give free knowledge of Buddhism to those who seek such information. This site is mainly concerned or limited to direct sayings of the Lord Buddha in various situations, questions and answers given rather than various authors personal opinions, concepts and/or interpretations. However, explanations and interpretations may be given for the benefit of the user to comprehend Buddhism without violating the basic teachings of the Lord Buddha. Also, this site may permit certain ideas provided it is clearly mentioned that it is only author’s view and not the sayings of the Lord Buddha as far as it is related and do not harm the teachings of the Lord Buddha. Moreover, this site tries to explain the sayings or teachings of Lord Buddha known as Dhamma with a logical background and analysis, but there is no attempting to prove except for the fact that Lord Buddha has mentioned it.

Users of this site may consist of following two basic categories

1. Those who wish to supply information and materials
 

Those who wish to give information such as basic teachings or sayings of the Lord Buddha can contribute to this site. Specially thripitikaya in Pali Language (Language that was used at the time) and any direct translations can be submitted to the site via e.mail. The editor will publish it if it is relevant. But if there are any revision or edition that shall be notified to the author first and seek his permission for changes before publishing in the web site. Relevant articles also may not be published due to overlapping and space limitations.  Such material can be published at a later date. No fee shall be paid to any author. 2. Those who wish to seek information or/and gain knowledge
 

Buddhist or non Buddhist who needs the knowledge of Buddhism are welcome to read or/and download these materials freely. Conditions apply to copy rights.

At this point, it is not intended to answer questions from the readers due to time constraints and resources constraints. This feature may be added in future including questions and answers forum subjected to editions, without the intension of having debates or arguments that can distract the main objective of distributing Dhamma.

If an explanation or an interpretation violates the meaning or concepts of saying of the Lord Buddha, we would be de lighted if someone points it out so that such explanation is revised, refined or removed. You can write such comments to editor@buddha-dhamma.org
